Since May 2008, the standard fee for all types of visas, known as Germany Visa Fees, has been set at 60 Euros. However, certain categories of applicants may qualify for fee waivers or reduced fees, providing them with cost-saving opportunities during the visa application process.

Fee Waivers for Germany Visa Fees:

For Schengen Visa:

  • Children under six years of age.
  • School pupils, undergraduates, postgraduates, and accompanying teaching staff traveling for study or educational training purposes.
  • Representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or younger participating in seminars, conferences, or other events organized by non-profit organizations.
  • Researchers from third countries traveling within the European Community for scientific research purposes.

For National Visas:

  • Foreign nationals receiving a scholarship from public funds during their stay in Germany, along with their spouse or partner and minor children covered by the funding.
  • Spouses, partners, and minor single children of German citizens.
  • Parents of minor German citizens.
  • Family members of EU/EEA nationals.

Reduced Fees for Germany Visa:

Visa facilitation agreements with certain countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Kosova, and Georgia may offer reduced fees of 35 Euros for a Schengen visa worldwide, with various waivers available for specific purposes such as visiting relatives.

For nationals of Serbia, Montenegro, and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (holders of non-biometric passports), as well as nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania (after the lifting of the general visa requirement on December 15, 2010), the fee for a Schengen visa is also reduced to 35 Euros.

Additionally, a reduced fee of 35 Euros applies for children between the ages of 6 and 12 for Schengen visas, while the fee for minors for national visas is half of the regular rate.

The German Consulate may consider waiving or reducing fees in individual cases if the applicant’s visit is intended to promote cultural interests, foreign policy interests, development policy, or humanitarian reasons.

By understanding the fee waiver and reduced fee provisions, applicants can navigate the visa application process effectively and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and eligibility criteria.
